Game Designer Role

You play a key role in a small, dynamic team. We think of Game Designers as craftsmen that brainstorm inspiring initial ideas, then shape them into features and experiences that surprise and delight millions of players around the world. As a Senior Game Designer at Game Circus, you will bring your passion for fun, quality, and engaging experiences to develop a vision for the games you work on and inspire your teammates to deliver something awesome!

Reporting to the Studio Game Design Director, you will be involved at all stages of the design process, from ideation, research, and documentation, supporting the team through execution, gameplay tuning and building the game during live operation.

What You Will Do:

  • Work with game team leadership to develop a success vision (commercial and creative) for the game, and/or the design roadmap to deliver the vision using research data and analytics to support the plan
  • Create designs that target specific success metrics, demographics, and player motivations
  • Present design plans to your team and stakeholders
  • Design worlds and complex systems and tune them for specific goals, creating the best product possible through a holistic approach to quality and delivery
  • Inspire and motivate your teammates to achieve high-quality results within constraints, identifying opportunities and problems, and brainstorming appropriate solutions

Skills You Will Have:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a video game Designer, creating high quality games as part of a team
  • Experience designing and deploying features and content in a mobile live-ops/ games-as-a-service environment
  • Had significant design responsibility on at least 2 shipped or live games, ideally casual games
  • You are a collaborator, skilled in brainstorming techniques, that is also proactive and able to own design features from inception to execution
  • Experience with rapid prototyping
  • Able to demonstrate understanding of mechanics, story, aesthetics and technology, their interaction as part of game design, as well as how the player experiences these
  • Experience with balancing and maintaining game economies
  • Understanding of audience demographics and segmentation, and how to gather, analyze and act upon player feedback
  • Knowledge of how design and the business model work together to deliver acquisition, engagement, and monetization
  • Knowledge of current top-grossing mobile games, why they are successful, and what their strengths and weaknesses are
  • Experience mentoring other designers and providing insightful feedback on designs
  • Advanced user of documentation, design, and balancing tools
  • Attention to detail, a great listener, with exceptional written and verbal communication skills
