A Character Artist on the Wasteland team is responsible for bringing to life new characters and creatures in our crazy post-apocalyptic world. The position requires a strong sense of anatomy, design, and color theory mixed with video game art production methods.


  • 5+ years of experience in game development concept, modeling, and texturing of characters.

  • Solid background in traditional arts included but not limited to:

    • Painting

    • Illustration

    • Design

    • Traditional media

  • An exceptional understanding of anatomy.

  • Eye for light, shade, color, and detail in creating painted texture maps.

  • Self-motivation, good communications skills, and a great team-player attitude.

  • Knowledge and understanding of the Wasteland art style and universe.

  • Exceptional sculpting ability in Z-Brush as they relate to game art workflows.

  • Proficiency in 2D art creation/manipulation packages, including but not limited to Photoshop.

  • An understanding of all current generation production workflows as they pertain to character art production.


  • 3D model and texture characters, wearables, and creatures

  • Create assets that fit within the Wasteland universe.

  • Enthusiasm for working closely with other Artists.

  • Communicate with Production, Design, and other departments.


  • Portfolio demonstrating technical skills:

    • Demonstrate a range of current generation game ready art.

    • Examples of modeled, textured, and lit environments or props rendered in a real-time engine.

  • Resume with Cover Letter.

  • Only online artwork submissions accepted (e.g. website, blog, or online album)

  • May require an art test.
