Vancouver-based developer A Thinking Ape was founded in 2008 with the goal of working on a messaging platform, but they’ve morphed into a premier mobile developer with a penchant for building communities around their games. They’ve inhabited a variety of homes over the years, and they’ve recently settled into a beautiful space in the downtown core of Vancouver. The modern, open floorplan was designed with a variety of goals in mind. There are spaces suited for collaboration and small group meetings, as well as areas better suited to more quiet, focused work. Take a look at some of these shots to get a feel for what the studio is like:
They also just released their newest title, Kingdoms of Heckfire, which they’re describing as a kingdom builder that’s easy to get into, yet deceptively deep. Check out the game’s trailer:
Look like an awesome place to work? Good news, the studio is growing! They’re expanding across all teams and they’ve got a variety of open positions listed on their site.
A Thinking Ape prides itself not only on building communities around its games, but also on building a thriving community within its studio. The values they list on their site are focused on ideas that foster a healthy environment for both employee and company growth –
- Keep growing
- Have wonderful arguments
- Best ideas win
