Character Artist

High Moon Studios is seeking a talented and self-directed Character Artist to join our award winning video game studio.
Collaborate with our incredibly talented team to design and implement high quality visual style for our current project.

The character artist is responsible for the following:

• Collaborate with the Art Director and concept artists to setup and implement characters in game engine.
• Follow art direction and work within the established art style.
• Creates photo-realistic and believable human models.

Job Requirements:
• Experience creating realistic character models for film or video games.
• Ability to create both organic and hard surface models.
• Ability to display a strong understanding of anatomy through detailed, high-quality models.
• Able to translate concept art into fully realized characters.
• Experience working on games for next-generation consoles.
• Ability to create high resolution models as a base to create normal maps.
• Ability to create textured maps from scratch and from photo reference.
• Deep understanding of high and low resolution techniques for modeling animated characters.
• Ability to demonstrate aesthetic sensibilities.
• Strong passion for video games.
• 3+ years of 3D modeling and texturing experience.
• Highly proficient with Maya or 3D Studio Max, Photoshop and ZBrush.
• Worked on 1 or more published title(s) as a character artist.

• Strong technical modeling skills, UV maps and textures characters in both high poly and low poly using either 3D Studio Max or Maya, and ZBrush.
• Communicates and collaborates effectively with the development team. Strong interpersonal skills.
• Finds highly creative solutions to problems. Continuous learner. Ability to adapt to change.
• Takes on assignments that develop knowledge and skills.
• Takes an active interest in other fields associated with character art.
• Achieves level of detail and clarity required by the project(s).
