Purpose of Position:
The person in this position is responsible for designing and integrating basic special effects requiring one or 2 chains of particles (ex.: fire, water, rain) while following artistic direction and respecting technological limitations and deadlines.

Missions:
The main and routine tasks of the SFX Artist are to:
-Become familiar with game design documents and identify special effects opportunities and needs
-Look for reference images and videos matching desired effects
-Have Artistic Director validate references
-Check with programmers to see if the intended special effects are viable in the engine and propose alternative solutions and / or developments where needed
-Model elements needed to create special effects
-Create textures according to effects’ specific needs
-Create particle systems for desired effect
-Check effect quality once imported into the game and make necessary improvements where needed
-Correct bugs detected by testers or other technicians to eliminate anomalies
-Carry out all other related tasks

Training:
Attestation of College Studies in game-oriented modeling or any other equivalent training.

Relevant Experience:
Minimum of 1 to 3 year experience in modeling, texturing, lighting and imaging or any other relevant experience.
