Master Teacher, Youth Gamemaking Programs

Position Description: Master Teacher, Youth Gamemaking Programs

E-Line is a leading provider of game-based learning products and services that empower young people to design and create their own digital games. We are seeking a master teacher to support our hands-on youth gamemaking and computer science education programs. The position will be based in E-Line’s New York City office. We expect the position to begin as a part-time engagement (min. 20 hours per week) with the expectation of growing into a full-time engagement as the business unit grows.

Essential Skills and Qualifications
● Bachelor’s degree in education, computer science or a related discipline (Master’s degree preferred);
● 5+ years classroom teaching or hands-on youth program experience in computer science, gamemaking or a related discipline at the middle and/or high school level;
● Prior experience with the Unity game development system, either in a professional capacity or having used it to teach gamemaking;
● Experience designing, testing and implementing computer science curricula in a real-world setting as well as with common computer science and computational thinking standards and pedagogy, such as the new The K–12 Computer Science Framework;
● A personal passion for gaming, as well as a literacy of gaming history, genres, etc.
● Experience teaching with other introductory and professional gamemaking and/or computer science learning platforms such as Gamestar Mechanic, Scratch, RPG Maker and GameMaker a plus;
● Excellent written and oral communication skills;
● Availability to travel within the New York Metro area to support program development and hands-on learning programs, including some hands-on support of programs operating during after-school and weekend hours;
● An entrepreneurial spirit and desire to help develop a business from an early stage;
● Excitement at the prospect of working in a frenetic, rapidly-evolving environment;
● A passion for educating young people and making the world a better place.

Areas of Responsibility
● Collaborate on educational content development efforts for youth gamemaking products and services;
● Work with the business, educational and creative leads on product strategy, design, budgeting and project planning;
● Identify prospects and develop relationships with partner organizations such as schools, universities, after school programs, youth-serving nonprofits and camps;
● Lead and support hands-on youth gamemaking programs, working directly with both youth and with other educators in an operational, professional development and curriculum planning capacity;
● Document and analyze processes to support continuous improvement;
● Source, manage and mentor junior staff supporting youth programs, including helping to produce training materials.
