New Orleans is in the midst of an economic renaissance. The city is being named as a top city for entrepreneurs in publications like Forbes, and business are clearly starting to view New Orleans as a viable place for expansion or new operations (see – GE Capital). The state wants game development to be a part of that growth, and began offering aggressive tax credits in a bid to lure studios to the area. The credits have been successful in helping land a few game companies in Baton Rouge, and New Orleans is also starting to see some pay off. Gameloft opened a new studio in downtown New Orleans in 2011, and they plan to eventually grow that studio to well over 100 employees. The city also has an active business development group (GNO, Inc.) that is dedicated to bringing more game studios to the city.
And of course, GameJobHunter is headquartered in New Orleans!
