Local Video Game Companies – Boston

The Boston area has a healthy collection of video game developers, including both AAA and indie studios.  Boston also has one of the best mixes of investors and universities outside of the Bay Area, which helps fuel the growth of game development in the region.

How does someone like me pitch a video game that I have created to a company to develope?

  • http://www.gamejobhunter.com/ Paul Teall

Late, but confirmed that they are indeed still open, and in the 11-50 range. Belated thanks, Chris!

A finished game, or an idea? If it’s an idea, you probably aren’t going to find any studios looking for pitches. You could contract the work out to individuals or a team.

Updated the headcount info for Harmonix – moved them down to the 51-200 category.

  • Chris Canfield

Also Tencent Boston renamed themselves to Stomp Games, then closed.

Hey Chris – have you found any links confirming? I was only able to find one story, and they don’t sound entirely confident.

It does look like their Facebook page has been abandoned.

  • Chris Canfield

I had friends working there when they shut down the Boston office last summer. It was a bit lost amidst a wave of other layoffs and the Marathon Bombing stories. The last update of their Facebook page under the Stomp Games name is a bit more definitive. https://www.facebook.com/StompGames. They were pulled from the Boston Postmortem listing around that time.

Thanks for the update, Chris. Just removed them from the list.
