I made some unique updates to a few city lists today, and now have PUBG Corporation and Improbable tracked in our lists. What was unique about the updates? Both companies actually have 2 locations, so I ended up with 4 city lists that were updated – Los Angeles (Santa Monica), Washington DC, San Francisco, and Madison. Read on for details about the updates.
PUBG Corporation is the studio behind the wildly successful PLAYER UNKNOWN’S BATTLEGROUNDS. PUBG Corporation was recently spun out as a new independent company from parent organization Bluehole and is focused exclusively on the hit game. The overwhelming success of the game has led to expansion for PUBG Corporation, but the details are a little fuzzy. It looks like there are now 2 US locations – in Madison and Santa Monica. The Madison location was covered back in June on Polygon and also in a tweet from Playerunknown himself. Information about the Santa Monica location is basically non-existent, but there are some clues on LinkedIn, including 2 open jobs.
Improbable sums up what they do quite nicely on their site, so I’ll quote them directly for this intro: “Improbable is a British technology company that focuses on large-scale simulations in the cloud, enabling virtual worlds of unprecedented scale and complexity.” Their primary product that allows them to deliver those virtual worlds is a platform called SpatialOS. Improbable has been around for 5 years, and recently received a huge investment of over $500 million to help grow and expand the company. Part of that expansion has included new offices in both San Francisco and Washington DC, and they have job openings posted for both locations (as well as for their London headquarters).
